Getting Recruited in 2025
Getting recruited to play college baseball in the year 2025 is in some ways easier than ever before.
However, It is also in some ways harder than it has ever been by a large margin.
With the transfer portal, extended eligibility periods and open season every summer for coaches to go and get anyone anywhere, the competition at the top schools is deeper than it's ever been.
However, with the power of social media every coach is one tweet/post away from viewing your game.
Back when I was a boy, I had to write handwritten letters to coaches that were interested in my play. I wrote about a dozen handwritten letters when I was in early HS, took me a few hours and a bunch of hand cramps and all I got was a hope that eventually these letters would make it to the coach and not get ripped up by the secretary.
Those didn't work out, and thankfully for me my recruiting became really simple when I hit a massive growth spurt that helped me gain 10 mph in about a year. I was able to join a really elite travel team and then coaches came around whenever my head coach would call them.
But it’s not that simple for 99% of players. Players are competing with tens of thousands for a roster spot and don't have the luxury of their coach calling anyone anywhere.
