There's a lot of noise in the baseball world
There are a lot of different people saying a lot of different things about what's important and what's not.
When you're younger, coaches will preach different things about going to play different tournaments against the best competition or going to play for this travel ball organization or this coach in this different city.
Unfortunately, most parents don't have the perspective to have a proper viewpoint on organized baseball as a whole. They get caught up listening to people they trust and taking their word for it.
At the end of the day the goal and the main thing will always be the same if your goal is to become the best player you can be.
The point is to keep getting better.
I know it's really easy to get caught up in a bunch of different things that seem important in the moment. but the main goal will always be becoming as good of a player as you can possibly be.
You might not get invited to that showcase that you wanted to go to, but it's okay because if you keep getting better someone will see you eventually.
You might not make the team on your first try, but that's okay because if you keep getting better you will make the team eventually
You might not be well known at your school or by your friends for being a good player, but that's okay because if you keep getting better that will change eventually.
If you did get invited to that showcase but you aren't good enough it didn't matter anyway because you weren't good enough to get the results you actually wanted.
If you did make the team your first try but you weren't actually good enough it didn't matter anyway because you don't play as much as you wanted.
If you are well known by your friends and peers for being good but you weren't actually good enough, It didn't matter anyway because you never played at the level you wanted to because you weren't good enough.
The point is there are a ton of really shallow things you can get caught up in in the baseball world. but if you really focus on what actually matters then in the end everything will be okay because if you are good then that's what really matters.
My challenge to you is to stop caring about things that don't actually matter and start caring about things that do. you might not believe it but if you are good enough you will find a way.
It's harder than you think, and I definitely know it's easy to get caught up in things that aren't important but feel like it at the moment. but if you can focus on what really matters you're putting yourself in the best position to have as much success as you can possibly have.
